Summary

A gripping novel about the whirlwind rise of an iconic 1970s rock group and their beautiful lead singer, revealing the mystery behind their infamous break up。

Everyone knows Daisy Jones & The Six, but nobody knows the real reason why they split at the absolute height of their popularity…until now。

Daisy is a girl coming of age in L。A。 in the late sixties, sneaking into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whisky a Go-Go。 The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it’s the rock and roll she loves most。 By the time she’s twenty, her voice is getting noticed, and she has the kind of heedless beauty that makes people do crazy things。

Another band getting noticed is The Six, led by the brooding Billy Dunne。 On the eve of their first tour, his girlfriend Camila finds out she’s pregnant, and with the pressure of impending fatherhood and fame, Billy goes a little wild on the road。

Daisy and Billy cross paths when a producer realizes the key to supercharged success is to put the two together。 What happens next will become the stuff of legend。

really liked thiseach character was so different and hearing little bits from each of them made the pace quick and the story more interestingi really enjoyed the documentary style i did feel like there was a big build up to nothing though which is why it’s not 5/5

This was super fun! Daisy Jones & The Six is told as an oral history entirely in dialogue。 I love the way Taylor Jenkins Reid approached storytelling about old Hollywood in The Seven Husbands and she has a similar approach here, but with rock and roll。 Definitely “a star is born” vibes。 I HIGHLY recommend the audiobook, which features Jennifer Beals as Daisy (god I love her voice) and Judy Greer as Karen, plus a full cast。 Listening to it feels like a VH1 special。

The audiobook production is truly stunning! I couldn't pause for a minute。 I can't wait for the TV series adaptation! One of my favorite this year for sure! And I added a new music obsession on my Spotify list: Fleetwood Mac, the true inspiration behind Daisy Jones and the Six ❤ The audiobook production is truly stunning! i’ll be honest, i hated this book when i was reading it。 did i really care about 2 privileged brats argue about song writing? absolutely not。 but after reading the novel i realized the depth some of these arguments add to the intricacy of the plot and that made me reevaluate my thoughts。 i felt like this book made me see parts of life on a different level and i can always appreciate when authors have the ability to do so。

I would give this like 4。5, this book was really good and the format was amazing, it fit the storyline so perfectly but there was just something missing from it。

Lots of character development and internal thoughts, not a ton of action。 Some thought provoking paragraphs on love and addiction

Really unique read, it felt like a real interview。 I also listened to the audiobook form of his as well。 The audiobook felt like I was listening to a radio interview。 The story was quick and engaging and I love that the same event is interpreted so differently by each person。 It just demonstrates how every moment, memory, and experience is so unique to each individual。 Billy was kinda a dick though for most of the book tbh!

I binged this book。 A MUST listen! I was glued to my earbuds。 Heartwarming and heart breaking with poignant and gorgeously written lessons on love and life。

"You're all sorts of things you don't even know yet。" Daisy Jones and the Six is a masterpiece。 Again, one of those books that makes me feel bad for giving out so many 5 stars, because this just really stands out。 It made me cry 8 times, which is a record for me。 There was just so much chaos, love, loyalty, complexity, and simplicity packed into each and every character。 I found myself interested in the stories of even the most minor characters。 Their relationships were dynamic and confusing but "You're all sorts of things you don't even know yet。" Daisy Jones and the Six is a masterpiece。 Again, one of those books that makes me feel bad for giving out so many 5 stars, because this just really stands out。 It made me cry 8 times, which is a record for me。 There was just so much chaos, love, loyalty, complexity, and simplicity packed into each and every character。 I found myself interested in the stories of even the most minor characters。 Their relationships were dynamic and confusing but very convincing。 Everybody felt real, and it made a story with relatively few major events still come to life in a compelling way。 The audiobook was phenomenally well-performed。 The accompanying PDF of song lyrics gave me chills。 I just can't get over how much I loved this。 TJR is so good at what she does。 I think I'm going to have to re-read this very soon。 。。。more

this got enjoyable after that 100 page mark。 The beginning really angered me cause I absolutely despised billy。 I still didn’t even up liking him but he was interesting to follow along with daisy。 he was right when he said he didn't deserve camila though。I think there was lots of funny and quotable lines but at the end of the day they were nothing important so I can't help but feel like that aspect is forgettable。 still, it was a good read and I liked how it all wrapped up:) this got enjoyable after that 100 page mark。 The beginning really angered me cause I absolutely despised billy。 I still didn’t even up liking him but he was interesting to follow along with daisy。 he was right when he said he didn't deserve camila though。I think there was lots of funny and quotable lines but at the end of the day they were nothing important so I can't help but feel like that aspect is forgettable。 still, it was a good read and I liked how it all wrapped up:) 。。。more

2。5 stars。 Kind of boring and I did not care about or connect with any of the characters。

I really enjoyed this book。 I actually listened to the audio, which was cool because they had a different actor play each part。 The book is written like a rockumentary, so worked very well on audio。 Jennifer Beals played Daisy Jones and sounded raspy and very much like the part。 The book let me interested in the lives of the characters more than the growth and breakup of the band, which I think is great。 There were a couple characters I didn’t care about, like Eddie, but his attitude did add tha I really enjoyed this book。 I actually listened to the audio, which was cool because they had a different actor play each part。 The book is written like a rockumentary, so worked very well on audio。 Jennifer Beals played Daisy Jones and sounded raspy and very much like the part。 The book let me interested in the lives of the characters more than the growth and breakup of the band, which I think is great。 There were a couple characters I didn’t care about, like Eddie, but his attitude did add that typical idea of band jealousy。 I like, though, that that aspect was secondary in the background, and the main characters weren’t even aware anyone had an issue。 。。。more

I dnf'd this one because I just didn't care or like anyone。 I'm not interested in reading about people's partying and drug use。 I also didn't like the interview style writing。 I dnf'd this one because I just didn't care or like anyone。 I'm not interested in reading about people's partying and drug use。 I also didn't like the interview style writing。 。。。more

5 stars historical fiction romance。 Wow。 This book was sex, drugs, and rock n' roll。 A great 'retelling' of Daisy Jones and the Six band and album。 It was so convincing that I didn't even realize Daisy Jones and the Six was not a real band until half way through the book and it's only because I googled it。 It makes you want to hear the songs so badly and see performances to really see the chemistry。 I heard this book is being made into a television series and the book has made me have very high 5 stars historical fiction romance。 Wow。 This book was sex, drugs, and rock n' roll。 A great 'retelling' of Daisy Jones and the Six band and album。 It was so convincing that I didn't even realize Daisy Jones and the Six was not a real band until half way through the book and it's only because I googled it。 It makes you want to hear the songs so badly and see performances to really see the chemistry。 I heard this book is being made into a television series and the book has made me have very high expectations for it。 Loved this book so much - Taylor Jenkins Reid has become a must read for me。 I love her writing style and voice。 It really puts you there in the moment with the characters。 。。。more

An alternative title could be 。 。 。 Band Members Have Feelings, Too。 This was an interesting peek inside a band with the objective of telling their story rather than selling them。 Underneath the psychedelics and smoke are "normal" humans with the usual assortment of challenges。 The story was well told and refreshing。 An alternative title could be 。 。 。 Band Members Have Feelings, Too。 This was an interesting peek inside a band with the objective of telling their story rather than selling them。 Underneath the psychedelics and smoke are "normal" humans with the usual assortment of challenges。 The story was well told and refreshing。 。。。more

TJR does it again。 read the whole thing in a day and i can’t stop thinking about it。 eventhough there aren’t any major twists in the story, the interview style in which it is written keeps you so hooked that you realize that a great writer can make any story interesting。 i believe that even more so than in evelyn hugo, in daisy jones TJR brings to light characters that are vulnerable, faulty, raw and real, and regardless of how wrong they may be you can’t help but sympathize with their feelings! One of the more immersive books I've read in the past couple years。 To the point where I admit to googling to make sure this wasn't a real band I'd missed。 I do feel like the interview format got it the way of itself a little (that tends to work better for me in smaller pieces) but it's a heck of a good ride。 One of the more immersive books I've read in the past couple years。 To the point where I admit to googling to make sure this wasn't a real band I'd missed。 I do feel like the interview format got it the way of itself a little (that tends to work better for me in smaller pieces) but it's a heck of a good ride。 。。。more

i have lots so say about this book at first i thought it was boring and didn’t have much of an interesting plot but now i think it is a very good book ! It took me longer than usual to finish only because the format was different But in the end i think i will remember this book for a rlly long time , the plot and the “truth” about the band members was so interesting to me Such a great book
